My mother 81 years old has AMD. I have heard a doctor in Florida can prescribe/make glasses.
Does anyone know anyone who can do that in Washington DC area
particularly in Laurel Maryland area.

I am not talking about a telescope type.
This institute/doctor puts two lenses together that works like a telescope.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

My Mom, who is 82, has a worsening MD (wet) condition and her eye doctor(at Baskin -Palmer) is now recommending the visudyne treatment ASAP. Her biggest concern is the fluorescein angiography in advance as she believes she had an allergic reaction to that test a few years ago. Her doc suggested she consult an allergist ASAP in advance of the angiogram. She has been unable to find an allergist who knows anything about the fluorescein test or how to test for allergy to it. A couple of questions: anyone have this problem? Know of an allergist-in South Florida who might help? Can visudyne be done without angiogram first? Precautions during angiogram? Any other ideas or things we should be thinking about

There is a place in Orlando,Florida that advertises on television that they make glasses for people with macular degeneration. I am looking into this myself (for my mother) , but I cannot vouch for them. If anyone would like to investigate this, the telephone number is:
1-800-435-7706. Please post any findings on the bulletin board. Thank you,
Benjamin Boswell Flagler Beach, Fl.

Hello Ted,

We have searched for retinal specialists in all states but have not found any in the state of Nevada. We do ask for physicians to send us their information. Perhaps the State Agency at http://www.macular.org/stagency/state_nv.html can make referrals for you.

Hi,

My wife Janis (57) has just been diagnosed with AMD - am interested in having access to bulletin board as way of keeping us up to date. We are based in the UK.

Hi Chris, I was Diagnosed 3 years ago with Wet Form. I have a great MD. I have had 3 PT treatments. I think the PT helped a great deal. I use to see only a black circle. now its like being under water. It took me a few months to adjust but, after time the other eye just takes over. I am only bothered if the sun hits me a certain way or I myself put my hand in the way, drinking coffee or something. I am 34 and dealing with it. Please assure Janis that she will adjust and there are all types of new therapy. JUST MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE MD, EVERY 3 MONTHS. THATS MY SUGGESTION.
Good Luck.....Deanna

Two years ago I was diagnosed with AMD. It progressed to "wet" in my right eye and "dry" in my left. After turning to wet, my AMD specialist had me come back in 6 weeks and at that time he could find no trace of AMD in either eye. It had reversed itself. I am looking for others who may have had this experience or a study where they are looking for a common denominator. It has returned in my right eye and my vision is virtually gone. I would like to find out how this happened and if I could repeat it.

I have myopic macular degeneration and am no longer able to drive. This is devastating to me. I am 49 and my job/life could change. There is hope in bioptics. See biopticdriving.org. Is anyone from CT that can help me in my efforts to get the laws changed? CT does not allow for bioptics, but they are being used safely in other states. Also I am thinking of being in a clinical trial for combretastatin A4. Has anyone used this or had it, any effects? Did it help? Thanks.

Hi,
I am writing a story for a local health publication in Baltimore. The story is focusing on a product called Zeagold. I'm searching for individuals who have found any sort of benefit from taking zeaxanthin in any form.

If anyone has such a story, I would greatly appreciate it if you would e-mail me at lauren.glenn@hotmail.com
