My brother is suffering from MD. He is only 26. He has very low vision. It is not sure when it started happening. It was detected in 1992-93. Doctors say there is no cure for this diseas. My brother says the effect is more in brightness. he has done Engineering(Mechanical) from a reputed institute in India. If anybody can help regarding its cure, preventing further degenration, vision aids please help.

which is very good for nutrition and herbal supplements for macular degeneration. Sometimes this site doesn't open with one try, try it again.

Some of the opthalmologists are treating the patients with this condition with photodynamic therapy in India but PDT with Visudyne, which is newly approved by FDA in USA and in Canada, hasn't been approved in India yet. The application is still pending for approval. I am also waiting for the approval of this therapy in India as my brother has also AMD but your brother is too young. I really wish him luck. Tell your brother to use UVA sun glasses while going out in the sun and try every thing whatever he can get his hands on for nutritional supplements, green leafy vegetables etc.
I don't know where you live but in case you are in Canada or Usa, try to send him the seeds of KALE, which is supposed to be one of the best green leafy vegetables/salad for MD. This is very easy to grow. You'll find quite interesting topics on the above site and about KALE as well.

You may also read my letter on the bulletin board dated May 10, 2000 regarding Microcurrent stimulation, the information for which was taken from MD support, and in India, I guess you can get accupuncture treatment in almost all the places, which is similar to microcurrent stimulation.

My father aged 70 years has recently developed this age-related MD. But I will not loose heart & I will get him cured. With science & technology coming to the rescue of mankind in many different ways I would like to appeal to all the opthalmologists to help me in this particular case.
