Stargardt's is also known as Juvenile Macular Degeneration. You can read more about Stargardt's from people who posted previous messages on this Bulletin Board by reading the Archives section of this web site. One of the 12 or so topics listed is "Macular Degeneration and the Young." You might want to read thoes messages. Also, Marla Runyan is a thirty-one year old woman who has had Stargardt's since the age of nine. Nevertheless, she will be representing the US at the Sydney Olympic Games later this month. So, do not give up hope. A diagnosis od Stargardt's dose not necessarily mean your sister will go blind. Have her see a good eye care professional. People are doing research into macular degeneration. We must all keep hope alive that treatments and a cure are on their way. My best wishes to your sister. Stephen

Can anyone help me with this, I have had Stargardts macular degeneration since the age of 17 and am now 50 years old. I am looking for more info on this and have been unable to obtain any. The only information on this is always applying to the aged. Appricated any advise.

I am 15 and had it since third grade i have done some research on google and i found out i will not go fully blind and this yellow white fleck surrounds the middle retina and i sm hoping to find more about it.
