There is a doctor in Northern Calif that does micro current stimulation for Macular Degeration. Does anyone have his name or the website for the clinic?

Don't bother seeking information or treatment with micro current stimulation. It is a scam and they only want your money. Our support group was promised fantastic results and after 2 years there is not a one of them that has benefited from it. Trust me, DON'T DO IT.

Kathy - my brother asked me to look into the microcurrent therapy as a possible alternative for my mother, so I am very interested in hearing more from you. The web site for one of the major proponents of the microcurrent therapy says that the MDF has done some encouraging studies and are planning to do a full-blown study with trials - any truth to that? Thanks, Claudia

I recently had a TENSMAC treatment in South Florida. I noticed no improvement in either eye. Now that I have had the treatment, here are some of my thoughts on TENSMAC:
1. Why are there still only 3 doctors in the country who perform it? 3 of thousands. Miller out in LA is not even an eye doctor. After over a year of experimental TENSMAC treatments, why have thousands of ophthalmologists in the country not bought into it yet?
2. Why is there so little information about it on the net, or anywhere else?
3. Why haven't we heard more positive remarks from people who have had success? Seems like we only hear good things from third parties. If Sam Snead's treatment was so successful, why haven't we heard from him?
4. Why does this belief persist that shocking dead dried up retinal cells might bring them back to life?
5. Wouldn’t it be nice if your TENSMAC specialist offered you 100% satisfaction? Most eye-care specialists do with contacts and other services.
6. Why does my ophthalmologist, who is a retinal specialist, say that these guys are just "shaking people down for money"? Why would one ophthalmologist say something this negative about another?
7. Why is there no TENSMAC funding for the clinical trials that are supposed to be starting? Promising cures are usually easily recognizable.
8. Why are the results from the TENSMAC treatments done so far not available to the customer? All Khouri would tell me was that the sample is very small. Is the true success rate small? Is it less than 5%? Is it less than 1%? Why are they reluctant to tell?
9. Why is it, after Dr Khouri deemed me a good candidate, he spoke glowingly of the treatment, yet his eyes did not?
10. Why hasn’t the FDA approved TENSMAC? The FDA certainly is not perfect, but they do some things right.

I've got early ARMD. Like everyone, I'm seeking to block it from getting worse. My eye doc already PRESCRIBED a vit/min complex, and I perceive that it has slowed down degredation.
Perhaps most of you do not know that there is a book about Microcurrent Stimulation (it is NOT acupuncture! but as I understand it, it is possible to use needles as well). The book is:
Microcurrent Stimulation: Miracle Eye Cure? by Edward C. Kondrot, MD. I ordered mine from Amazon. The book, IMHO, is not particularly well written, but has useful information.
Folks complain about the cost; me too. But I'd gladly pay $800 for the unit if it has only a 10% chance of working. The problem is that I cannot find anywhere to buy it!? The book tells how to use it; I don't need an MD to administer it. Anyone know where to get one?
Thanks,
Pete

Recently on a television newscast microstem 400 glasses were mentioned to help restore sight to the legally blind esp macular degeneration. They supposedly prevent and in some cases revverse the effects of MD. The story is from Portland Or. I cannot seem to find any further information on this. Does anyone know about this treatment. Please advise.

My mother has tried it. Don't know if it is improving her vision yet. But we have noticed other wonderful benefits. Her eyes no longer hurt. She has not used eye drops since she began four weeks ago.

My granddaughter, Sarah, discovered she had Staragardt's at 15. I heard from a friend with Stargardt's about Damon Miller, MD, in Los Altos, CA. Her central vison at that time was 20/600. We gave her the three day treatment with Dr. Miller. After her first session, she stepped outside saying "I can see the leaves." At the end of the treatment session her vision was 20/60. She has consistently used her microcurrent machine and is now a sophomore @ Cal/Berkeley where she's majoring in English. While she was playing catch with her boyfriend a few weeks ago, she realized she could see the stitches on the softball as it came to her. In the 7th grade, she went to the national finals at her level of softball. Next fall she's going out for the Cal Women's Softball Team. This may be a one in a million case, and I'm sure it's unusually successful. But this did occur.

I recently heard of microstem 400 and I wanted information because my son, who is 10, has cone dystrophy. It is a degenerative retinal disease. I am looking for parents of children with cone dystrophy to start a support group. If you or anyone you know answers to that description, please email me at michaelj518@comcast,net. Thanks! Angela C.

Micro stimulation: See Alternative Magazine - March 2004. Article is by Rob Waters, "A 2nd Chance at Sight". Is fairly balanced and provides information on several success stories, but also readily admits that neither the FDA nor many MD's have shown an interest in it.
The article referenced Grace Halloran at www.visualhealing.com and E. Kondrot (800-430-9328)
Is there anyone who has undergone this treatment and had success with it first hand?

I would recommend staying with proven or almost proven therapies. Nutrition is extremely important at slowing down macular degeneration!! Some new studies indicate that maybe soy isoflavones, tumeric, green tea extract and red wine extraxt(reservatrol) may be benefitial at slowing down macular degenration. Most of the studies have been done on animals so far but lets face it many of the ARMD patients could be gone by the time a long term double blind placebo controlled study is finished. So you may want to add these nutrients to your already long list of nutrients which should include lutein, zeanthathin, lycopene, billberry, grape seed extract cobined with an AREDS formula, fish oil, dark green leafy vegetables and colorful fruits (berries). Remember if it sounds to good to be true it very well may be. Wear Blue blocking sunglasses. There will be some new generation nutritional supplements coming out for ARMD in March of 06. Dr. Mike
