My father, who lives in Poland came to US for a possible eye treatment. He was diagnosed with AMD - a wet version - over a year ago. I live Upstate New York one hour south from Syracuse and two and the half hours from Rochester. Whould you haveany suggestion, where should I take him for a treatment. Since there is no insurance, which would cover his treatment the cost of the treatment is a factor as well. Would you have any suggestion where should I go, whom should I contact? Best Slawomir Grunberg

Then go to the Eye Care Centers button. Treatment centers are listed alphabetically by state. Go to the button for New York. There are many centers that treat macular degeneration in the New York City area. There are also some upstate. I think Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse may all be listed. If you don't mind traveling some, there are others in Boston, Baltimore and Philadelphia. Just go to the state listing (Massachusetts, Maryland and Pennsylvania) to find addresses and phone numbers. Best of luck to you in your search. Your friend, Sally G. Melanin, the pigment found naturally in the skin and eyes, prevents macular degeneration and cataracts.

I live in a very small town in Tx. My grandmother has just found out about her AMD, so I set out on a mission to find some clinical trials to maybe find her some help. She is a very stubborn person, and will never leave the state for a "trial". Her mother was blind due to AMD, as well as two aunts. She's not even 60 yet. How can I help her? -A.Becker

Is anyone participating in the Phase 3 study, Protocol Number C-01-9, for Visudyne PDT vs Anecortave. Or did anyone participate in Phase 1 or 2. If so, I'd like to know if you think it helped.

I have AMD in both my eyes, My right eye has the dry and the left has the wet. My central vision was completely gone in my right eye. I am 55 years old. My doctor ( I will call him my angel) recommended a new treatment that has not been approved by the FDA yet. It is called Poss Avastin od 2. I had my first treatment 2 weeks ago and my right eye is completely restored. No more black spot. Oh it is still blurred but I can see again. I would recommend this to anyone. My doctors are with the Southeaster Retina associations, in Johnson City Tennessee. Thank You Carolyn
